HDR | Nakata Planning Group Asked To Assist With Hurricane Katrina Rebuilding Plans
HDR | Nakata Planning Group was recently requested to assist the HQ Louisiana Army National Guard (LAARNG) complete redevelopment planning for recently destroyed and/or severely damaged facilities managed by the LAARNG in New Orleans and the surrounding region.
Jackson Barracks in New Orleans was formed in 1834-1835 to give logistical support to the forts of the Mississippi Delta area. More recently, it has been a key LAARNG readiness center site and part of the LAARNG statewide inventory of facilities. During Hurricane Katrina, the barracks suffered major damage from wind and flooding.
HDR | Nakata Planning Group has mobilized specifically at the request of the LAARNG to assist with rapid response planning for the reconstitution of the installation and address relocation and reconstruction of a number of other major facilities in the New Orleans Region that were also affected.
The effort is ongoing and will assist the LAARNG identify priorities for the funding of new construction to support the guard.
